Camelhumps are a closed chamber head, they are alot better then bolting on a set of 882's or something, smaller combustion chamber means more compression. they also use an ar 303 plug which is a 13/16th plug and not a 5/8th.. basically they flow better then an open chamber head (882, 441 etc)

If i had a choice between vortec and camelhump, i would pick vortec... I cant say that about any other stock production head over a camelhump... and on valves BIGGER IS BETTER!

Push come to shove...No matter what you can only get so much outta the engine...DRIVER ABILITY is where its at. Oh yeah, and a car that WANTS to turn left... which my car very adamently refuses to do. On a serious note, my brother and Danny, and a few others I know swear by those camel hump heads, and it has yet to be explained to me in a way that I understand. My brother uses terms with me that I just say "Uhh... OK" and I still dont understand. I ask my brother to put the ones he has on my race car, he says nope those were his pride and joy. So evidently they are "special" Melinda

That is where I say Whoa ! These heads are stock, from the factory and they are not aluminum. SO, they should be legal to run even in the lowest divisions BECAUSE THEY ARE STOCK!!! ~ FlIpSiDe ~Comparable Ford heads are really hard to find and the really good ones are aluminum. It's the changing of the times. You can find good Ford heads but I don't think they are comparable to the Vortec.

you got that right <singing> cry me a river.... lalala the Ford FT-40 heads are awesome BUT they're aluminum. There are the GT-40P heads which are great but I still don't think they could be competetive w/ the Vortec w/o some massaging ie: port matching, milling, etc.
