ASCS Sprints on Dirt Ready for Crystal
Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (July 11, 2006) – The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz is set to make its second appearance of the season at the semi-banked, 3/8-mile Crystal Motor Speedway this Saturday night.
The series opened the 2005 season at Crystal Motor Speedway, with Ohio's Mike Brecht taking the win. Since that time, Ken Mackey has scored three feature wins in ASCS SOD action to take over the championship points lead.
From Manitou Beach, MI, Mackey holds a 44-point lead over former series champion Dain Naida entering this weekend's event. Canadian Kyle Patrick is a close third in points, with Gary Fast just three points ahead of Gregg Dalman in the race for fourth. Others in the current top ten include Kevin Atkins, Joe Bares, Davey Brown, Louie Carufel and Ryan Grubaugh.
Friday's action at Crystal Motor Speedway goes green at 7:30 p.m. Crystal Motor Speedway is located in Crystal, MI, 5.5 miles north of State Road 57 on Crystal Road, then east on Sidney. For more information, contact the track at 989-235-5200.
The 2006 Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz slate consists of approximately 30 nights of racing at fourteen different tracks throughout Michigan, Ohio and Canada.
In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing at nearly 100 tracks throughout 27 different states and Canada in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and
Sprints on Dirt).
