John... Randy... Ya'll are seasoned racers... tell me why someone would have a test and tune... when there are NO rules out? I know its kinda a play date, but why take your car out there, when you have no rules to go by, risk tearing it up, not knowing how well the track is prepped? I mean I have have every intention of going but only to check things out and hopefully get a copy of the rules. YES YES YES I know that I know little to nothing... but it doesnt make sense to me to spend the money to "test and tune" something that you have NO RULES for. I know the new owner is trying to get the rules out, but seems to me its kinda late. JOHN I am not bashing, lol, just asking what you think.

well, alot of people have new cars, and the IMCA guys rules dont change so its just a shake down for us. My cousin will be taking his new 2007 Qwik Chassis Mod out there to try out his hand with a 4 link car. as far as your car goes mindy, pure's normally dont change much, so it's no big deal for ya'll, i wouldn't worry about it, just go out and try new stuff.

Well, in my opinion rules changes hurt our sport more than help it on a local level if the intent is to compete with other local tracks. If the rule changes aren't performance related then they are really irrelevant & I would go "test & tune" anyhow. Look @ it this way....everyone else is just as much in the fog as you are & I would venture to say the rules changes for the pures won't be many & probably will not include anything which enhances performance. I also believe if rules are to be changed then the announcement should be made before the current season is over & get the next season's rule book out to the teams @ the last night of racing. THAT way we can use the off season for what it is intended for, working on and improving our racecars.
Unfortunately, it seems some are looking to "rule" the local S. Texas racing scene when what all of the tracks, asphalt & dirt should be doing is working together. Competition between tracks could be good for the sport if we had a healthy "racing economy" here, but that's something that just doesn't exist. I know wanting the tracks here in south Texas to work together is a pipe dream but I can dream right?

Ok, I get it, the test and tune will mostly be for the IMCA and the Sports Mods, since their rules are already in place. And basically, the pures, if they do make rule changes... dont sweat it... cause they cant be big ones. Well, in that case, there is no reason to take my car I know its ability from last season. I have done nothing to it, except look out the window at it every now and then and curse it!!! I'm gonna strip it down, take some of the dents out, re-paint it, and put on new graphics. I'd like to put a NEW motor in it.. but I think if Harley or Danny got wind of that... they might both go insane. Hahaha. Whats wrong with the old one... nothing... its dirty... lol..Nah really it smokes some but they say its from being upside down and oil got somewhere it shouldnt be, they say its fixable...not a big issue... ANYWAY.... Thanks for your answers... I'll still go out to see whats up with the track, but I aint taking that ugly car out there. Mindy

good game plan.
If they do happen to change a lot of rules for the pures and add more "high performance" parts, etc, they take a huge risk of killing that class. You might as well take the car to SAS & run w/ the roadrunners or grand stocks if that were to happen. Which I would not object to <wink>
