Today, October 28 2006 will be the day of John Kelly's last super late model series event as a driver. The event will be the USRA Super Late Model event at the 2006 Stock Car Spectacular at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX. John has achieved many accomplishments over his very successful career including 6 championships, over 125 feature wins, and numerous track records.
"I feel the time is right to go ahead and retire from super late model racing. Being self-sponsored is difficult and becoming harder season by season." When asked if he would consider continue to race if sufficient sponsorship dollars could be found, John said "I don't think so. If a sponsor does happen to come on board I would like to see Team 57 get the backing it needs instead of sinking it all into the super late model." "It has been fun, real fun. What I can't wait for is the 2007 season. Team 57 has some big plans for more than one division.
