Kvapil appeared to have the race won coming off the fourth turn of the 100th lap at Daytona International Speedway. But Sprague got a push from Benson nearing the finish line of the 2½-mile tri-oval. As Sprague stayed high and passed Kvapil to the outside, Benson dived low and took second on the inside at the wire. The first three finishers were separated by .034 of a second. The victory was the 28th for three-time Craftsman champion Sprague. “This is by far the best race I've ever won,” said Sprague, who also claimed the pole Thursday. Said Kvapil: “I feel terrible, but I knew that was going to happen. It's real disappointing. I thought we were OK, then I knew we were in trouble. I really don't know how it happened.” For more by Bill Center: www.signonsandiego.com/sports/20070217-9999-1s17daynotes.html
