After six long, cold months waiting for the 2007 racing season to kick off, Dodge Country sponsored the opening night at Texas Thunder Speedway in Killeen, Tx. Joining the one hundred and twenty cars on hand was a huge crowd of race starved fans.
Nineteen Corbin & Associates, Atty's I. M. C. A. Stock Cars were the first feature race to hit the track following heat race action. Perennial front runner Benji Kirkpatrick took the lead, using a restart to power around Ron Simpson, on lap nine. Six laps later and he took the checkered flag six car lengths ahead of Simpson and a terrific hard fought battle for third. Eric Jones battled with Shad Stevens for the final five circuits with the two going side be side for most of final distance. Jones just nipped Stevens for the third spot at the line. Winner Kirkpatrick started seventh.
