Adams Aces ASCS Regional Shootout at Virginia Motor Speedway
Lonnie Wheatley, SALUDA, VA (April 28, 2007) – Florida's Kenny Adams kicked off his American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour title pursuit by winning Saturday night's 25-lap ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region vs. Southern Tour feature event at Virginia Motor Speedway.
Adams fought off several challenges from New York's Justin Barger before slipping away to claim the victory aboard the Don Ott-powered B&W Enterprises/Goodson Farms/C&B Mushrooms No. 4a Shaw-chassis.
While Adams claimed the ASCS Southern Tour point lead in the series opener, Barger moved atop the ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region point charts with a solid runner-up showing, with Southern Tour shoe Johnny Bridges claiming the show position.
Former ASCS Patriot Region champion Bryan Howland crossed the stripe fourth, with ASCS Rebel Region championship contender T.J. Winegardner rounding out the top five.
Brian Smith was sixth, with Geoff Quackenbush, George Suprick, Tim Hogue and Craig Fulmer completing the top ten.
Lance Moss, Chuck Hebing and Bridges topped Saturday night's heat race action. Moss and reigning ASCS Patriot Region champion Hebing both scratched from the main event after a wild Pole Dash tangle.
