NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES
DOWN TO THE WIRE … AGAIN: The last three editions of the O’Reilly 300 has produced some of the most dramatic finishes in the history of the Nationwide Series at TMS. The last three races rank among the top-five closest Nationwide finishes in TMS history. Last year’s battle between Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin resulted in Kenseth winning by .128 of a second for the closest Nationwide finish ever at TMS. The 2006 edition – in which Kurt Busch edged Greg Biffle by .265 of a second – ranks as the fourth closest and the 2005 race – where Kasey Kahne nipped Biffle by .304 of a second – rounds out the top five. Discuss with the drivers as to what makes TMS one of the best tracks for the series in terms of dramatic side-by-side racing and finishes.
JUNIOR NATION CELEBRATION: The Junior Nation will get a special treat Samsung 500 weekend as Dale Earnhardt Jr. will perform double duty. In addition to competing in the Samsung 500, he also will compete in Saturday’s O’Reilly 300 Nationwide Series race. How rare a treat is this for Texas Motor Speedway fans? It will be his first appearance in a Nationwide Series race at TMS since 1999, when he finished 10th. This will also mark the 10th anniversary of when he won his first career Nationwide Series race right here at “The Great American Speedway!” in 1998. Take a look at the fans of the Junior Nation and their thoughts about this rare treat as well as TMS President Eddie Gossage’s take on if one driver can drive additional ticket sales for this race. For more information, contact TMS Media Relations at (817) 215-8520 or pr@texasmotorspeedway.com.
LONE STAR DRIVER: From driving for Team Texas Driving Experience to now running competitively in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Robert Richardson has made his way up the motorsports ladder. The DFW area driver out of McKinney, Texas, makes his way to his home track to compete in the O’Reilly 300. Richardson, who drivers for Jay Robinson Racing, competed in 16 races last year in the Nationwide Series. See how this local driver got his big break into the NASCAR ranks and how he’s handle his time in the Nationwide Series.
