Ike Forces ASCS Sooner Cancellation at Cowtown KENNEDALE, Texas (September 12, 2008) – With Hurricane Ike set to douse most of Texas over the next 24 hours, American Sprint Car Series officials and Cowtown Speedway management agreed early Friday afternoon that it would be in the best interest of all concerned to cancel Saturday night's scheduled American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region event atop the high-banked, ¼-mile dirt oval. With the cancellation, the ASCS Sooner Region will now join forces with the O'Reilly ASCoT National series for the Cowtown Sprint Nationals on October 10-11, with the event awarding both National and Sooner points on both nights. The ASCS Sooner Region fires back to action next Saturday night, September 20, at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, OK.
